Popular regimentation or the people’s militia is a tradition dating all the way back to the 16th century and is a strong part of the national heritage. In an emergency, a militia was created from volunteers to serve along with the regular army and defend the homeland.
During 1941-42, workers and citizens cities such as Leningrad, Moscow, Rostov, Stalingrad and many of the other major Soviet cities organized militias and quickly found themselves engaged on the front lines as the waves of German invaders swept eastward. People’s militia squads were very poorly trained and less equipped than the average Red Army squad, but they fought with immense bravery.
This set represents one of many militias that took the war to the German invaders but are also ideal to be used as Soviet Partisans.
Box contains 12 metal Soviet People’s Militia models with plastic bases.
